Abstract:
In this article, we explore the ethical, legal, and economic implications of using radiology scans in artificial intelligence (AI)-driven healthcare. We argue that current practices often misuse patient data without proper consent, highlighting legal cases and widespread public distrust. We propose that treating radiology scans as a commodity under property law and advocating for a profit-sharing model would drive innovation while benefiting patients, providers, and AI companies. This approach aims to enhance transparency, trust, and equity in healthcare by aligning with property laws and ethical principles. We suggest that such a model could foster richer datasets, improved AI models, and stronger patient-provider relationships.
