Background:

Growing demand for business skills among healthcare professionals.
Need to define essential business and practice management (BPM) competencies for rehabilitation graduates.
Importance of aligning university curricula with industry needs.

Purpose of the Study:

To identify and summarize existing BPM competencies for rehabilitation university graduates.
To inform the development and enhancement of university curricula.
To establish a consensus on required BPM skills in the rehabilitation sector.

Main Methods:

Qualitative systematic review of databases (ABI/INFORM, CINAHL, Education Source, Embase, Medline) and grey literature.
Inclusion criteria: BPM competencies in university-level rehabilitation programs in developed countries.
Data extraction using EndNote; screening and appraisal using the AACODS Checklist by two independent reviewers.

Main Results:

Nine resources met inclusion criteria, with quality scores ranging from 4 to 6 out of 6.
Several practice management competencies were consistent across rehabilitation professions.
Business competencies, such as marketing and business plan development, were inconsistently identified across different programs and professions.

Conclusions:

Insufficient evidence exists to support a consensus on BPM competencies for rehabilitation university graduates in Canada.
An aggregate list of 64 competencies was compiled and can guide future research.
Further investigation is required to define a standardized set of BPM competencies for rehabilitation professionals.
