Anteverting Periacetabular Osteotomy Improves Outcomes in a Patient with Nonambulatory Spinal Cord Injury: A Case

Case:
A 19-year-old T8-T9 level spinal cord injury patient experienced significant pain and recurrent right posterior hip dislocations. Closed reductions, bracing, casting, and soft tissue procedures were unsuccessful in keeping his right hip reduced or alleviating pain.
Conclusion:
An anteverting periacetabular osteotomy and subtrochanteric femoral shortening flexion osteotomy were performed. Three years following the procedure, the patient had minimal pain and a stable reduced right hip. This case report describes an approach for treating a painful, unstable hip in a spinal cord injury patient.
