Dual-polarization interferometer using spin-orbit beams
None:
A dual interferometer that can be switched between Fizeau and spiral interferometer configurations is introduced here. The nature of fringes obtained in these two configurations can be used to obtain the phase and phase gradient distributions of the test wavefront. In metrology, this feature helps us to distinguish peaks from valleys in the test surface. By lifting peak-valley degeneracy, surface profiling becomes easy in this dual interferometer. The dual nature is achieved by using spin-orbit beams in the interferometer. In this paper, we demonstrate it by using a lemon in the interferometer. Each of the surface extrema in the test wavefront is seeded with a lemon and, by polarization selection, the dual nature of the interferometer is brought out.

Spin–Spin Coupling: Two-Bond Coupling (Geminal Coupling)
The central atom need not be NMR-active because its electrons are affected by the electron polarization of the spin-active atoms. However, spin information is transmitted less effectively than in one-bond coupling, and 2J values are usually weaker than 1J values. The energy of...

Spin–Spin Coupling: Three-Bond Coupling (Vicinal Coupling)
The extent of coupling depends on the C‑C bond length, the two H‑C‑C angles, any electron-withdrawing substituents, and the dihedral angle between the involved orbitals. The...

Qualitatively, any spin plus-half nucleus polarizes the spins of its electrons to the minus-half state. Consequently, the paired electron in the hydrogen–carbon bond must...
