Abstract:
We report two cycloparaphenylenes (CPPs), [9]CPPDI1 and [9]CPPDI2, embedded with perylene diimide (PDI) and its π-extended derivative, respectively. The absorption and emission spectra as well as DFT calculations clarified the unique photophysical properties of the two molecules. Moreover, efficient resolution was achieved, with chiral enantiomers (+)/(-)-[9]CPPDI2 isolated by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy was performed to prove their chirality.
