Cats are the most common animal in French nursing homes. To encourage good cohabitation, it is necessary to assess the impact of this animal's presence on residents and caregivers. Ethological methodology based on behavioral observations, together with ethical considerations on the observer's position, offers new perspectives for analyzing social interactions with animals and their effects in nursing home.
