Ellipsoid zone reflectivity changes after idiopathic epiretinal membrane peeling: a pilot study.

Epiretinal membrane (ERM) peeling surgery significantly improves vision and ellipsoid zone (EZ) reflectivity. Increased EZ reflectivity after ERM surgery indicates better visual recovery and may serve as a biomarker for photoreceptor health.

- A significant negative correlation was found between BCVA and EZ reflectivity (r = -0.758, p = 0.001).

- EZ reflectivity correlates with visual recovery following ERM peeling surgery.
- Increased EZ reflectivity may serve as a biomarker for photoreceptor health and visual prognosis after ERM surgery.
- Further large-scale longitudinal studies are warranted to validate these preliminary findings.
