Development and Validation of a Tool to Assess Jordanian Nursing Students' Knowledge and Attitudes Toward Corneal

Abstract:
Background and Purpose: The importance of corneal donation is related to the global burden of corneal blindness. This study aims to develop and validate a tool to assess the knowledge and attitudes of Jordanian nursing students toward corneal donation. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Results: The questionnaire demonstrated robust psychometric properties, with item difficulty indices ranging from .40 to .71 and discrimination indices from .30 to .59. Reliability was confirmed with a KR-20 value of .80. The attitude questionnaire revealed a single-factor structure, with high reliability (coefficient alpha = .86). Nursing students exhibited good levels of knowledge about corneal anatomy, transplantation procedures, and donation benefits. Conclusion: The validated tool is a reliable and effective instrument for assessing knowledge and attitudes toward corneal donation among nursing students.
