[Strongyloides hyperinfection syndrome during high-malignant lymphoma treatment]

Strongyloides hyperinfection syndrome, caused by the nematode Strongyloides stercoralis, is a life-threatening condition with a high mortality rate. This case report describes a 76-year-old woman who developed hyperinfection syndrome with gastrointestinal- and pulmonary symptoms shortly after her first round of chemotherapy for stage IV diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Despite her advanced age and frailty, she survived both the severe parasite infection and the two-month hospital stay, in addition to managing the challenges posed by the advanced-stage lymphoma.
