Abstract:
This study highlights the benefits of Neglected and Underutilized crops (NUCs) by analyzing 56 peer-reviewed publications from different geographical locations. NUCs are climate resilient, can boost yields, expand nutritional diversity, empowerment, and livelihood status. Addressing poverty, hunger and malnutrition are global complex challenges requiring multiple perspectives and solutions; thus, NUC provides tremendous unexplored opportunities. This review connects the research gaps, strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities and provides recommendations for further exploration.
