Abstract:
The objective of this study was to determine the impact of monetary incentives (MI), job autonomy (JA) and work-life balance (WLB) on perceived value of rewards (PVR) and employee performance (EP). The study also investigated the mediating role of the PVR. A sample of 691 employees selected from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire. JASP version 0.19.0.0 was used to analyze the data. The study found that there was a significant impact of MI, JA and WLB on PVR and EP. Furthermore, the study found a significant mediating role of PVR between the impact of MI, JA and WLB on PVR and EP. The findings of this research are novel as construction of incentive and constraint mechanism based on the valence tool expectation theory in the economic environment.

E. C. Tolman's theory of purposive behavior emphasizes that much behavior is goal-directed. He argued that to understand behavior, we must look at the entire sequence of actions leading to a goal. For instance, high school students study hard, not just due to past reinforcement but also to achieve the goal of getting into a good college.
Tolman introduced the idea that behavior is influenced by...
