Validity and Reliability of the Turkish Adaptation of the Feeling Safe During Surgery Scale

This study aimed to assess the validity and reliability of the Turkish adaptation of the Feeling Safe During Surgery Scale.

This study was methodological and descriptive.

This study used data collected from a sample of 182 patients between November 2022 and December 2023. Various analytical techniques were applied, including the Index of Content Validity, Exploratory and Confirmatory Factor Analyses, Cronbach's α, test-retest reliability evaluations, and correlation analyses between individual items and total scores.

The scale's Content Validity Index was calculated as determined to be 0.980. Factor analysis revealed two subdimensions that together explained 83.475% of the variance, with model fit values indicating strong suitability. The Cronbach's α coefficient was 0.951.

The findings suggest that the Turkish version of the Feeling Safe During Surgery Scale is a reliable and valid tool for assessing patients' perceptions of safety in the perioperative period under regional anesthesia.
