Abstract:
This article provides a focused review of 4 sedatives commonly administered to critically ill patients worldwide as continuous infusions-propofol, benzodiazepines, ketamine, and barbiturates. The article covers key pharmacokinetic-dynamic parameters, mechanisms of action, and adverse effects, highlighting critical issues that often limit therapy.
