Abstract:
This study aimed to characterize the sit-to-stand (STS) behavior of elderly using experimental and computer-aided ergonomic methods. The impacts of seat height and inclination on the vertical ground reaction force (GRF) and body pressure distribution (BPD) were investigated. The results indicated that the STS transition can be classified into four stages according to the GRF and BPD. The minimum and maximum GRF were 18% and 114% of body mass (BM), respectively. The effects of seat height and inclination on GRF and BPD are significant. Increasing seat height and inclination contributed to complete the STS transition of elderly.
