Patient Work-Up in the Modern Workplace: Role of Remote and Non-Invasive Diagnostics

Traditional diagnostic methods, such as clinic-based uroflowmetry, are limited by significant intraindividual variability and may fail to capture patients' typical voiding patterns, creating diagnostic challenges. This review examines advancements in home urodynamic testing and their application in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and other male urologic conditions. A comprehensive search across multiple databases identified 507 studies, of which 26 met inclusion criteria. These studies evaluated various home uroflowmetry devices and sound-based applications, assessing their accuracy and effectiveness in capturing urinary data outside clinical settings. Such innovations have the potential to enhance the diagnosis and management of male lower urinary tract symptoms.
