Abstract:
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has led to considerable global morbidity and mortality. Though pediatric myocardial infarction (MI) is rare, COVID-19 induced hyperinflammation and hypercoagulability may precipitate coronary thrombosis leading to MI. We report a rare case of an unvaccinated 4-year-old boy developing STEMI secondary to COVID-19 related coronary artery thrombosis. This case emphasizes the importance of considering acute coronary events in pediatric patients with COVID-19 presenting with cardiac symptoms, given the evolving understanding of COVID-19 cardiac complications in children.
