Abstract:
Solothrips lanceolatus sp. nov. is described from Southwestern China. This is the second species of Solothrips, a genus remarkable within Thripinae for the absence of ocellar setae I and II, head, thorax and fore wings with setae short and flattened. The body coloration of this new species is dark brown, in contrast to the sharply bicolored type species. S. lanceolatus is currently known from the leaves of Lithocarpus grandifolius in tropic areas. The male is described for the first time within the genus.
