Relevance Of Imaging Procedures:
A SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT APPROACH The overuse of medical imaging is a global issue, observed across all countries regardless of income level or healthcare system, whether public or private. Establishing precise criteria to assess the appropriateness of care and quantifying unnecessary services remains a complex challenge. Overuse not only causes physical, psychological, and financial harm to patients but also diverts resources away from public health and involves social expenditures. Moreover, it contributes to an environmental burden with consequences that ultimately impact population health. In the context of an energy and resource crisis, ensuring the resilience of medical imaging requires a dual approach: integrating innovation to enhance energy efficiency and promoting the eco-design of radiology equipment, while simultaneously implementing strategies to regulate the demand for imaging examinations.
