Abstract:
Adrenal masses are relatively common, most of which are benign and nonfunctional. Radiologists play a crucial role in characterizing these adrenal lesions to ensure optimal workup and treatment. Traditionally, nuclear imaging has been used in a limited capacity-primarily to identify malignant lesions and to characterize and stage pheochromocytoma. However, newer radiotracers have shown promise in detecting functional lesions. The article explores how radiotracers can be employed to better characterize adrenal masses and identify potential malignancy or functional lesions.
