    Summary

    This study on pulmonary tuberculosis patients found active endobronchial tuberculosis in 11.6% of active cases. Bronchial aspirates were more reliable for diagnosing infection than sputum cultures.

    Background:

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To evaluate the diagnostic yield of bronchoscopy in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis.
    • To assess the prevalence of active and inactive endobronchial tuberculosis.
    • To compare the reliability of sputum samples versus bronchial aspirates for microbiological confirmation of TB.
