Abstract:
A simple, environmentally friendly, room-temperature approach has been established for the quick single-pot synthesis of core-shell-shaped Pd@Au bimetallic nanoparticles using Aqueous Cranberry fruit Extract (ACE) as a dual reducing and capping medium, wherein Pd2+ ions were reduced prior to Au3+ ions. The chemical determination of the Phytochemicals in ACE and further characterization by using IR spectroscopy indicated that -OH groups in the extract plays the main role in the nanoparticle's formation. UV-Visible spectroscopy of bimetallic Pd@Au nanoparticles shows a core-shell structure. XRD analysis revealed the coexistence of both Palladium and gold in the Pd@Au nanoparticles, as evidenced by diffraction peaks that appear slightly shifted toward higher 2θ values compared to the characteristic AuNP peaks, lying between the reference positions of Au and Pd. Additionally SEM and TEM pictures were used to describe the composition and structure of the bimetallic particles. The biogenic Pd@Au bimetallic nanoparticles further demonstrated strong anti-inflammatory responses and antimicrobial phenomenon against a spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains and anticancer efficacy against MCF-7 breast cancer cells. The biosynthesized Pd@Au Nano Particles worked as excellent nanocatalysts, exhibiting remarkable catalytic efficiency toward organic dye degradation, achieving approximately 83.55 % reduction of Rhodamine B and 91.98 % degradation of Malachite Green under optimal conditions following pseudo-first order reaction.
