Objectives:
The scoping review aims to identify the implementation elements of existing web-based personalized interventions for carers of individuals with dementia in home and provide guidance for the development of intervention measures.
Methods:
This is a scoping review follow the methodological framework of Arksey and O'Malley. Search of PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Web of Science, PsycINFO, Cochrane Library, CNKI, Wan fang, and VIP from inception to January 2024 were used to identify primary research. Data extraction and integration of results are guided by the CFIR framework, with these results mapped onto the domains of intervention characteristics, outer setting, inner setting, and individual characteristics.
Results:
The review included 18 studies between 2015 and 2023. The study used the CFIR framework to identify four domains of web-based interventions: intervention characteristics, outer setting, inner setting, and characteristics of caregivers. The intervention characteristics domain specifically refers to the relative advantages, adaptability, complexity, design quality and combination. The outer setting domain specifically refers to caregivers needs and resources, external policies and incentives. The inner setting domain specifically refers to network and communications, available resources. And the characteristics of caregivers' domain specifically refers to knowledge and beliefs about the intervention, self-efficacy.
Conclusion:
This scoping review used the CFIR framework to identify four domains that are central to the implementation of web-based interventions for informal carers of dementia. A number of recommendations are made for implementing web-based interventions for informal carers of dementia, including successful transition of informal caregivers into caregiver roles, attention to individualized implementation, design of intervention tools, and attention to privacy and security and digital literacy. Future research should be centered on implementation elements for practice-based research on web-based interventions for informal caregivers of dementia.
