Abstract:
Head and neck cancer remains pervasive and associated with significant morbidity. Clinical examination, biopsy, and conventional imaging may not result in an adequate understanding of disease extent. Advanced imaging techniques including dual energy and perfusion CT, diffusion weighted and perfusion MR imaging, and other techniques may yield additional information related to tumor detection, staging, differentiation, and prognostication. When combined with conventional imaging and when tailored for disease location and type, advanced imaging may significantly increase imaging accuracy.
