Abstract:
A 55-year-old man presented with a diagnosis of Fournier gangrene of the groin and genitals. Surgical debridement resulted in full-thickness wounds requiring reconstruction. NovoSorb Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix is a bilayer biodegradable dermal matrix developed in recent years to provide a synthetic option for wound reconstruction. We demonstrate a novel method for managing a Fournier gangrene wound using a 1-stage advancement flap combined with NovoSorb Biodegradable Temporizing Matrix to achieve reconstruction without the need for split-thickness skin grafting. The resulting postoperative wound demonstrated a good clinical outcome without complications.
