Dual targeted therapy, which involves the combination of two biological agents and/or small molecules, is an emerging treatment option for patients with difficult-to-manage inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), who present with extraintestinal manifestations or have associated immune-mediated diseases. Prospective studies and randomized controlled trials will be essential to better define its efficacy and safety in the personalized management of inflammatory bowel disease.
