Abstract:
This study reports the extraction and functional evaluation of Aspergillic acid, a bioactive metabolite from Aspergillus flavus isolated from olive tree exophytes. Aspergillic acid exhibited potent antimicrobial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA ATCC 43300) and Escherichia coli (MTCC 1610). Radiolabeling with technetium-99m yielded [99mTc]Tc-Aspergillic with a high radiochemical purity (95.7 ± 0.09 %) and in vitro stability for up to 6 h. In vivo biodistribution studies in inflamed mice demonstrated selective accumulation at inflamed sites, achieving high target-to-non-target ratios, particularly in sterile inflammation models. These findings highlight [99mTc]Tc-Aspergillic as a promising dual-action candidate for combating microbial pathogens and enabling non-invasive imaging of inflammatory processes.
