Abstract:
Here, we describe a fatal, prolonged Delta SARS-CoV-2 infection lasting 55 days during the Omicron wave in a severely immunosuppressed HIV patient. We observed persistent viral replication, high within-host mutation rates, and emergence of rare spike mutations. Findings suggest prolonged infections may drive SARS-CoV-2 evolution and reintroduce variants presumed extinct into immune-evasive forms.

Causative Organism
The primary infectious agent causing tuberculosis is Mycobacterium tuberculosis, a slow-growing, acid-fast, aerobic rod that exhibits sensitivity to heat and ultraviolet light. Instances of Mycobacterium bovis and Mycobacterium avium contributing to the development of TB infection are rare.
