Background:

• Digital transformation is reshaping healthcare, necessitating digital skills for nursing staff, patients, and caregivers.
• Current German nursing curricula inadequately address digital literacy, digital skills, and technology integration.
• There is limited understanding of technology use in nursing education and effective methods for enhancing digital competence.

Purpose of the Study:

• To identify current literature on innovative and experiential-based teaching and learning methods.
• To explore methods for developing technology and digitalization competence in nurses and informal caregivers.
• To identify digital technologies used in nursing education.

Main Methods:

• A scoping review following the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology.
• Searches conducted across CINAHL, Emcare, Embase, Medline, and ERIC databases (April 2025 - January 2026).
• Peer-reviewed screening and extraction with predefined criteria and free-text responses; data analyzed using frequencies and qualitative content analysis.
