Intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) measured by automatic phantom-less quantitative computed tomography (PL-QCT) is a better predictor of hip fracture risk than bone mineral density (aBMD, vBMD). IMAT combined with vBMD offers the highest predictive accuracy.
