Summary

Hibernomas, rare brown fat tumors, can mimic liposarcomas on imaging. This case highlights differentiating features of FDG-avid hibernomas, lung hamartomas, and liposarcomas using PET/CT and MRI findings.

Area of Science:

  • Oncology
  • Radiology
  • Pathology

Background:

  • Hibernomas are rare, benign tumors of brown adipose tissue.
  • They exhibit fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG)-avidity, mimicking malignant lesions on imaging.
