Toxoplasmosis01:28

Toxoplasmosis

Toxoplasmosis, a zoonotic disease caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii, poses significant public health challenges globally due to its high seroprevalence and varied clinical manifestations. Summary

Ocular toxocariasis can progress from retinal granulomas to tractional retinal detachment, even after initial treatment. This case highlights the importance of serial imaging for monitoring disease progression in pediatric patients.

Area of Science:

  • Ophthalmology
  • Infectious Diseases
  • Parasitology

Background:

  • Ocular toxocariasis is a parasitic infection of the eye caused by the larvae of *Toxocara* species.
  • Early-stage presentations can include retinal granulomas, but progression to more severe complications is possible.
