Aggressive left atrial (LA) plication improved left ventricular basal posterior wall (LVbp) bending in patients with atrial functional mitral regurgitation (aFMR) and giant LA. LA plication before mitral valve (MV) repair showed greater benefits than MV replacement with chordal preservation.
