Aortic pseudoaneurysm secondary to suprarenal inferior vena cava filter penetration treated with coil embolization

Inferior vena cava filter strut penetration is a recognized complication. Damage to the aorta from filter penetration can result in pseudoaneurysm formation, which carries risk of rupture. We present the case of a 40-year-old woman with a complex surgical and vascular history with an incidentally discovered pseudoaneurysm of the abdominal aorta involving a suprarenal inferior vena cava filter at the level of the celiac artery. Endovascular coil embolization was successfully performed. This case highlights the importance of surveillance in patients with indwelling filters and supports coil embolization as an option for aortic pseudoaneurysms in difficult locations.
