A Quantitative Measurement Method to Evaluate the Aesthetic Effect of Injectable Fillers for Correcting Nasolabial

Background:
Currently, there are few methods that can objectively and quantitatively evaluate the aesthetic effect of injectable fillers in correcting nasolabial fold wrinkles (NLFWs). The purpose of this study is to construct a new approach for evaluating the aesthetic effect of injectable fillers in correcting NLFWs, to study the changes in soft tissue measurement indexes both before and after the treatment, and to explore their clinical significance, thereby providing objective data support for the clinical treatment of NLFWs and assessment of its aesthetic effect.
Methods:
The aesthetic effect of 32 patients who received poly-L-lactic acid injectable fillers to correct NLFWs was objectively and comprehensively evaluated using the multidirectional "Point-angle combination" measurements constructed in this study.
Results:
There were varying degrees of decrease in the horizontal and vertical ratios of NLFWs compared to the baseline level, and the NLFW endpoints shifted upward and inward to be closer to the nasal wings on both sides, and the length, depth, and symmetry of NLFWs on the left and right faces of the patients were all improved in different degrees.
Conclusion:
The multidimensional "Point-angle combination" measurements constructed in this study showed excellent feasibility in assessing the aesthetic effect of injectable fillers in correcting NLFWs and can objectively and quantitatively measure the changes in NLFWs severity in patients.
