Insights
Photon-counting CT (PCCT) offers superior imaging for left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) devices. This study highlights PCCT
Area of Science:
- Cardiovascular Imaging
- Medical Devices
- Radiology
Background:
- Computed tomography (CT) is crucial for left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) device planning and monitoring.
- Assessing structural heart disease with various devices is enhanced by ultra-high resolution photon-counting CT (PCCT).
Abstract:
•Computed tomography (CT) has a central role in both the preprocedure planning and the postprocedure monitoring of complications associated with left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) devices.•Ultra-high resolution photon-counting CT (PCCT) is showing superiority in the assessment of structural heart disease across various devices.•The paper demonstrates the use of PCCT in identifying postprocedural complications associated with the deployment of LAAO devices, specifically, peri-device leaks.
