Mast cells (MC) release serotonin (5-HT) contributing to chronic itch in allergic contact dermatitis (ACD). Targeting the mast cell-5-HT-5-HT2A receptor (HTR2A) axis offers a promising therapeutic strategy for ACD-induced pruritus.
