Summary

Minimally-invasive Chevron-Akin (MICA) osteotomy for hallux valgus can increase tension on lesser metatarsals. Fixing the first metatarsal with one bicortical and one intramedullary screw minimizes this load, concentrating forces on the metatarsal shaft.
