Abstract:
A series of all-twisted radicals (TTM-PTPEA, TTM-2PTPEA, and TTM-3PTPEA) have been designed and synthesized by introducing aniline-modified tetraphenylethene onto the side arm of the TTM core. These radicals feature a near-infrared (NIR) absorption due to the efficient intramolecular charge transfer interactions. Moreover, the twisted molecular skeleton and intense intramolecular motions greatly contribute to their silent emission and photothermal conversion. Notably, TTM-3PTPEA containing three PTPEA units exhibits high performance with a NIR photothermal conversion efficiency of 59%.
