Abstract:
We quantitatively analysed when the chirality enrichment proceeded during temperature cycle-induced deracemization by monitoring the crystalline ee during a single heating-cooling cycle. The enrichment proceeded during dissolution steps. Furthermore, evolution and devolution of ee could be described by the mass and surface area ratio between the enantiomeric crystals.

Conjugated systems containing an even number of π-electron pairs undergo a conrotatory ring closure. For example, thermal electrocyclization of (2E,4E)-2,4-hexadiene, a conjugated diene containing two π-electron pairs, gives trans-3,4-dimethylcyclobutene.
