Ordered mesoporous materials (OMMs) represent a class of versatile functional materials with significant scientific and technological importance, distinguished by their tunable pore sizes, exceptionally high specific surface areas, well-ordered pore systems, and functionalizable stable frameworks. These materials have demonstrated remarkable advantages in environmental remediation, particularly in the adsorption of heavy metal ions and organic pollutants due to their unique structural characteristics including large pore diameters, high surface accessibility, and efficient mass transport pathways. This review comprehensively analyzes the research progress of OMMs over the past decade, with special emphasis on recent breakthroughs in synthesis methodologies and adsorption applications. The review begins by examining advances in OMM synthesis, including soft templating, hard templating, and single-micelle self-assembly approaches. Subsequently, it explores the application progress of the OMMs in removing metal ions and organic pollutants, discussing their enhanced adsorption capacities and efficiencies. Finally, the review provides perspectives on future research directions for OMMs in both the synthesis and application domains, offering critical insights to accelerate their practical implementation in environmental engineering and beyond.
