  • This study addresses the gap by examining satisfaction with a Kahoot Dementia Trivia game for dementia education in a subsidized housing community.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore older adults' satisfaction with a Kahoot Dementia Trivia game designed for dementia awareness and education (Aim 1).
  • To identify health-related topics of interest for future Kahoot Trivia game development among this demographic (Aim 2).

Main Methods:

  • Ten older adults from a senior subsidized housing community participated.
  • Participants engaged in a Kahoot Dementia Trivia activity and completed a Likert-scale satisfaction survey.
  • Topic preferences for future games were collected, and frequencies/descriptives were calculated.

Main Results:

  • Participants reported very high enjoyment (M=9.30), social engagement (M=9.20), and likelihood of future participation (M=9.10).
  • 70% of participants were likely/very likely to recommend the activity to others.
  • Top topics of interest included dementia (60%), mindfulness (60%), Alzheimer's disease (50%), and diabetes (50%).

Conclusions:

  • Technological game-like experiences, such as Kahoot Trivia, facilitate dementia education with high satisfaction, social engagement, and recommendation rates among older adults.
  • Mindfulness-based education via Kahoot Trivia suggests potential for alternative stress management approaches in this population.
  • Further research into mindfulness-based interventions through gamified platforms is warranted.
