Pregnancy via Testicular Sperm Extraction for Anejaculation After Neuroblastoma Surgery

Background:
Surgical treatment of a neuroblastoma, a malignant tumor of the sympathetic nervous system, may result in ejaculatory disorder. There are no reports examining ejaculation disorders after neuroblastoma surgery.
Case Presentation:
The patient was a 31-year-old Japanese male who had undergone surgery for neuroblastoma of the abdomen at age 0. He had difficulty in ejaculation, with postorgasmic urinalysis showing no sperm. A diagnosis of anejaculation was then established, and sperm retrieval via testicular sperm extraction was performed, which was successful. His wife underwent oocyte retrieval and achieved pregnancy via intracytoplasmic testicular sperm injection and blastocyst transfer.
Conclusions:
We experienced a case in which testicular sperm extraction resulted in a successful pregnancy despite anejaculation that was developed after surgical treatment for an abdominal neuroblastoma. Therefore, pregnancy can be achieved with appropriate treatment even in the case of anejaculation.
