Strengthening Professional Identity: The Critical Role of Preceptors in Shaping the Next Generation of Nurses
Abstract:
This article explores the pivotal role of professional identity (PI) in shaping nurse preceptors, emphasizing how a well-defined PI enhances both preceptor effectiveness and preceptee development. It offers insights for nursing professional development practitioners to intentionally foster PI formation in preceptors and preceptees. Strengthening this foundation elevates preceptor practice, promotes meaningful professional socialization for preceptees, and advances the nursing profession while improving outcomes across the continuum of care.
