Background:

Simulation-based learning experiences (SBLE) are integral to health sciences education.
Quality assurance necessitates validated instruments for evaluating SBLE components.

Purpose of the Study:

To systematically identify validated instruments for assessing SBLE in health sciences education.
To map the landscape of SBLE evaluation tools from 2000 to 2025.

Main Methods:

A comprehensive scoping review was performed following Joanna Briggs Institute methodology.
Searches included major databases (PubMed, Virtual Health Library) and grey literature up to July 2025.
Eligible studies reported instrumental research on SBLE evaluation tool validation.

Main Results:

27 validated instruments were identified from 25 articles, predominantly questionnaires developed before 2020.
Psychometric evidence focused on content and construct validity, with reliability reported for most.
Most instruments measure participant satisfaction or self-confidence, with limited assessment of facilitator performance or institutional factors.

Conclusions:

Existing SBLE evaluation instruments are largely focused on participant perceptions.
There is a need for more methodologically rigorous and comprehensive tools to assess SBLE.
Future instruments should broaden their scope to include design, environment, and facilitator performance.
