Abstract:
Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and Circular Dichroism (CD) spectroscopies are powerful and rapid techniques that provide valuable insights into the conformational properties of nucleic acids (NA). These spectroscopic methods, sensitive to vibrational and electronic absorption, can detect subtle changes in the molecular structure of nucleic acids. In this chapter, we introduce two new spectroscopic databases, NACDDB and NAIRDB, which offer a comprehensive collection of CD and IR datasets for various nucleic acid molecules, including many RNAs. Entries in NACDDB and NAIRDB are linked to primary sequences, experimental structural data, relevant literature references, and, when available, 3D structures or models. These two databases serve as valuable resources for researchers, facilitating their study of nucleic acid conformations and enhancing their understanding of NA structural dynamics.
