Based on a professional encounter in a bicultural context, the countertransference of caregivers challenged by differing frames of reference is analyzed. Dialogue and the clarification of reciprocal cultural representations made it possible to overcome initial obstacles, open up a space for shared thinking, and transform misunderstandings into clinical and institutional resources.
