Abstract:
Two previously undescribed compounds, designated ochratoxin A iso-butyric acid ester (1) and iso-crytoporic acid I (2), were isolated from the rice fermentation broth of an endophytic fungus Eutypella sp. XLE005, which was obtained from the marine mollusk Conus leopardus (Röding). Structural characterisation was accomplished through extensive HR-ESI-MS and NMR spectroscopic analyses. Both compounds were screened for antibacterial and antifungal properties. Compound 2 exhibited weak antibacterial effects against Vibrio owensii, Streptococcus agalactiae, Aeromonas hydrophila, Aeromonas vickerii, and Vibrio rotiferianus, with inhibition rates of 56.29 ± 2.25%, 44.93 ± 5.97%, 58.12 ± 8.47%, 44.70 ± 1.01%, and 47.84 ± 7.40%, respectively, at 128 μg/mL.
