Pt nanoparticles loaded on helical chiral carbon nanotubes for the efficient oxygen reduction reaction

Abstract:
Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are widely used as catalyst supports, yet their smooth surfaces often cause the agglomeration of metal nanoparticles due to the lack of anchor points. In comparison, chiral carbon nanotubes (CCNTs) have attracted attention for their high specific surface area and unique curved morphology. Herein, Pt nanoparticles were deposited on left-handed L-CCNTs (Pt@L-CCNT) for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). Electrochemical tests further demonstrated that Pt@L-CCNT with low Pt loading exhibited comparable ORR performance compared to commercial Pt/C.
