The New Reality of Occupational Health in the Face of Climate Change

Introduction: Climate change has intensified extreme weather events, creating growing challenges for occupational health. Rising temperatures, air pollution, and climatic instability increase the burden of respiratory, cardiovascular, and mental health conditions among workers, particularly those exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Outdoor workers and individuals with pre-existing chronic diseases are especially vulnerable, while informal workers face compounded health and social risks. Addressing these challenges requires climate-adaptive workplaces, supportive occupational health policies, and coordinated action among governments, employers, and the scientific community to protect workers' health in a changing climate.
