In this work, Schiff base fluorescent probes C1 and C2 were synthesized through a simple imine condensation reaction, with 1,8-naphthalimide as the fluorescent group and imine group as the binding site. The addition of Cu2+ leads to the blockade of intramolecular charge transfer effect (ICT) and almost complete quenching of fluorescence. The minimum detection limits of Cu2+ for C1 and C2 are 9.92 × 10- 9 mol/L and 9.38 × 10- 9 mol/L, respectively. C1 and C2 coordinate with Cu2+ in a ratio of 2:1 and 1:1, respectively. In addition, the color of the solution has changed from bright yellow green to colorless and transparent, with the characteristic of being recognized by the naked eye, making it easy to prepare test strips for qualitative detection of Cu2+.
